Koolfuel is carbon neutral and is recognised as such by DEFRA. This is because at firing it is releasing carbon that has already been captured by the Willow short rotation Coppice. In other words it is recycling carbon and therefore does not conflict with the natural carbon cycle.

Carbon is also captured on a permanent basis within the Willow SRC root systems and via the grass and clover sown throughout the green corridors around and within the plantations

Strawsons Energy have pioneered and patented unique harvesting and processing systems to produce fuels that minimise processing energy input whilst maximising energy output. For every unit of fossil fuel used in this process, 50 units of carbon neutral Koolfuel are produced.
